How did you notice it was gone? It must exist, or your computer would not function. Unless you have a bit operating system, and then no such folder should ever exist. Are you sure it was there before, and are you sure you have a bit OS? In reply to CmdrKeene's post on July 25, I have a bit and it was there at first and then it just vanished.
In reply to JoshMcM's post on July 25, Try this:. I am going to assume that it was deleted some point last year, during my brother who is not totally computer illiterate, but does not know alot 's tidy of the computer. Basically he uninstalled or deleted any programs that he did not think we needed. Apparantly he deleted this also. Oh, and just so you know, for some reason we CAN connect to the internet, pages load fine, but I'm sure the computer does not realise this since it keeps asking to connect every few minutes, and we can only browse for about ten minutes at a time.
If anybody could please help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry this post is a bit cluttered. I was trying to be as in depth as possible and I guess I just rambled too much.
Joined May 11, Messages All the online services does is point you to different ISP's available. You dont normally need to connect using the 'Connect to the internet' option in Create a new connection. I think you are fully connected you may be having some connection trouble or other problem because your connection does not last long. When you have connected and browsed and then you lose connection what does the network connection in 'Network Connections control panel say?
It says it is functioning correctly and there does not appear to be anything wrong. Like I said, the internet is still functioning correctly, the computer just thinks it is disconnected and I get lots of messages about working offline and wanting me to connect obviously this connection isn't there, just dial up and the usb modem we used to have.
If there's a way to disable this it would be great. I can stop this from happening by restarting the browser, making sure "work offline" is unticked and by looking at the properties of the connection not sure that's exactly what I do, I just look at various things to do with the internet and it seems to be fixed.
But being the only person even close to being a "techie" in my house, and the fact that I am not there alot of the time we really need this problem sorted.
