I have the exact same issue! I installed the Windows XP Mode and was never even prompted for a password during installation. It now defaults to XPMUser with no password.

There are come tools used to reset windows user password. So reset password, then reboot VM. I was able to log in as XPMUser, without password. I set new pass and now is everything fine.
