Glad to help you guys! There are ways to extract the text in a pdf file and create a word document out of it. Then convert the new word document back into a pdf.

Most fonts are indeed copyrighted although there are large libraries of free fonts available on the web. In most PDF files, just a subset of fonts is embedded. Only those characters that are used in the text are also embedded in the PDF. Even if you could extract such a font, you would only have an incomplete typeface with many characters missing.

Sometimes the pdfs are still asking for fonts… illustrator and indesign do not have explicit places to specify how fonts are handled when generating pdfs. SetaPDF comes with a TrueType parser and subset engine which allows you to use any character from the unicode range as long it is available in the given TrueType or OpenType with TrueType outlines font program.

A font subset has the advantage that it will reduce the font size to a minimum which results in very smal PDF files. With this font instance you can use up to individual characters. The resulting font program, which will be embedded in the resulting PDF document, will automatically be subset to only these specific used glyphs.

So if the input is limited to a text which is not generated with more than different characters, you're fine to use this font class. An instance of this class can be used as any other font type and has to be created by a static create method.
